2012 RESNET Building Performance Conference Served as Catalyst for the Building Performance Industry

Mar 19, 2012

On February 27 – 29, 2012 over 900 building performance professionals gathered in Austin, Texas to participate in the 2012 RESNET Building Performance Conference. The conference provided a unique opportunity for participants to share the latest information on successful business models, program delivery, technical innovations and policy initiatives. The 2012 conference offered the most break-out sessions of a RESNET Conference.

The theme of the 2012 RESNET Building Performance Conference was “Getting Down to Business”.  From the number of home builders and contractor organizations attending the conference it is clear that the private sector has opened the door for new business opportunities with the building performance conference.  The 2012 RESNET Conference explored how the industry can take advantage of the opportunity.

Jeffrey T. Mezger, President and CEO of KB Home and Chairman of the Leading Builders of America gave the keynote of the conference.  In the address he explored why energy efficiency is important to the building industry and the role the home energy rating industry is playing to transforming  the housing market industry by mainstreaming high energy performance homes.  To view the Mr. Mezger’s presentation address click on 2012 RESNET Conference Keynote Address

In his general session opening RESNET Executive Director Steve Baden discussed the trend of builders committing to having all of their homes energy rated and marketing their home HERS® Index Score.  He also introduced the RESNET Energy Smart Home Performance Teams that ties certified RESNET Home Energy Raters and Energy Smart Contractors to make comprehensive energy improvements to existing home.  Mr. Baden challenged that the key to success is for RESNET members to team up with builders, contractors and product suppliers to offer total building performance solutions to consumers.  To View Steve Baden’s presentation click on Steve Baden 2012 RESNET Conference Presentation
