The Northeast HERS Alliance (“Alliance”) Board of Directors and Staff are proud to announce a RESNET Rater Professional Development educational training session for June 2011.

From June 20th to June 23rd the Alliance will be offering a training session titled: “BPI Building Analyst Certification Training & Testing Short Course for Certified RESNET Raters”. It will be conducted at: the Clarion Hotel, 1 Atwood Drive, Northampton, Massachusetts. Field exams will be scheduled for June 24th to the 26th.

The BPI Building Analyst course will help you prepare to take the BPI Building Analyst written and field exams. The course reviews BPI required building science principles and conditions that have a direct impact on occupants’ health and safety in an existing home. This course emphasizes the ‘house-as-a-system’ approach to inspecting a home, approaching all of the dwelling’s systems as interconnected; from the HVAC equipment, to the thermal envelope, the foundation, walls, roof, doors and windows. The course also takes you into the field to practice diagnostic testing and combustion safety testing methods required for the Building Analyst field exam.

The BPI Building Analyst Certification Training & Testing Short Course for Certified RESNET Raters includes three days of training, the HERS Rater 50 question written exam, and the two hour field exam at a cost of $1,245.00 for Alliance members, and $1,295.00 for non-members. Please email Frank Migneco to sign-up and to receive a registration form and course invoice.

The Alliance will be partnering with the Center for EcoTechnology (“CET”) to deliver this training. The Instructors will be Mr. Ethan Jackson and Ms. Beth Paulsen.

Mr. Jackson has worked for CET as a home energy auditor and quality assurance inspector before becoming a trainer and course developer. He has a civil engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and is a certified engineer-in-training. He is a certified BPI Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, and field exam proctor in both designations. Mr. Jackson teaches the BPI Building Analyst and Envelope Professional certification preparation courses as well as the Mass DOER Smart Building: High Performance Homes workshops.

Ms. Paulsen performs inspections for the ENERGY STAR Homes program and the LEED for Homes program. She conducts energy and green assessments, blower door and duct blaster tests, and air sealing. Ms. Paulson teaches BPI certification courses as well as the Weatherization Boot Camp for contractors, MassGREEN Initiative Weatherization Installer courses, trains CET’s air sealing staff, and teaches site design at the Boston Architectural College. Ms. Paulsen is a certified BPI Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, and field exam proctor in both designations, as well as a certified HERS Rater, and a LEED for Homes Green Rater.

So please distribute the above information so your members and peers can take advantage of this BPI Building Analyst training geared toward an existing certified RESNET Rater.

Seats for this training event are limited. They will be filled on a first come first registered basis.

Training participants can choose to stay at the Clarion if they like. When booking your room mention you are under the “CET Group Rate” to receive the discounted rate. Those interested need to call the Clarion direct at: 413-586-1211. Here is a link to obtain more info on the city of Northampton:
