energystarThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that ENERGY STAR New Homes Version 2.5 has been delayed until April 1, 2011. Single family homes that are permitted before April 1, 2011 can continue to be qualified under the current v2 guidelines until July 1, 2011 (previously, this applied only to single family homes permitted before January 1, 2011).

With this delay in the beginning of ENERGY STAR Version 3’s transition period, it would be logical that Version 3 would be delayed to allow a full year of transition for builders as was announced by EPA.  EPA has not made an announcement on any delay to the January 1, 2012 start of mandatory compliance with Version 3.

EPA has also announced the delay of the ENERGY STAR Energy Concept Home until June 2011. The delay is to allow EPA to work with the U.S. Department of Energy to align ENERGY STAR Concept Home with the Builder Challenge program.
