Republican Lindsey Graham cosponsors Senate energy retrofit bill with Democrats Jeff Bingaman and Mark Warner.

The Home Star Energy Retrofit Act of 2010 (S.3177) was introduced in the Senate on Thursday, March 25, 2010. This is an important step in the legislative process that could help pass the Home Star bill into law. The bill calls for an extensive national incentive and financing program for home energy retrofits. In addition to providing incentives for American homeowners to undertake energy-saving upgrades, the bill intends to stimulate the home improvement contracting and energy efficiency industries, as well as research and development of energy efficient technologies.

The Home Star bill was sponsored by New Mexico Democrat Senator Jeff Bingaman, and has gained the support of South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham and Virginia Democrat Mark Warner, who have signed on as co-sponsors of the legislation. The Home Star bill will now reside in the Senate Finance Committee.
