RESNET® is hosting a new webinar series to keep the RESNET network informed on the latest news and updates. On May 2, 2019, RESNET hosted a free webinar with RESNET Washington representative Carl Chidlow to introduce the RESNET network of the advocacy campaign new online RESNET Washington Advocacy Tool Kit. RESNET is launching a public policy advocacy campaign to help the HERS® Industry and its allies engage with their Members of Congress during the 116th Congress. There are over 100 new Members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives as a result of the recent mid-term elections, many of whom may be unfamiliar with the HERS® Industry, RESNET and our policy priorities. It is important that we reach out to these new Members of Congress to educate them on who we are and what we do so that we can develop champions for our legislative agenda. On May 21, RESNET hosted a webinar on RESNET/ACCA ANSI Candidate Standard 310 “Standard for Grading the Installation of HVAC Systems” Working with representatives of the HERS® industry, ACCA, and the EPA, RESNET has drafted a new standard to reward high-quality HVAC design and installation with HERS® points. Not only will this make proper design and installation more valuable than ever before, but it will also significantly re-unify the process of doing a HERS® rating and earning ENERGY STAR certification. This is a major opportunity for the HERS® Industry and builders. Research shows that in some climate zones Grade I installation could reduce HERS® Index Scores by as much as 6 points.
