Kennecott Land has committed to having all of the builders in its development in Salt Lake City, Utah to have all of their homes energy rated and market the new homes HERS Index. The commitment is included in a Memorandum of Understanding that Kennecott Land entered into with RESNET. This is a first of its kind commitment for RESNET in that it is with a land development company.
Kennecott Land was established by Kennecott Utah Copper to develop its non-mining land in a way that creates enduring and sustainable communities. The company is requiring that builders building homes in its Daybreak community must build high energy performance homes. With the agreement the corporation will require that all homes in the community are rated and that the builders market the homes HERS Index.
