RESNET and GAF Teams Up to Improve the Energy Performance of Homes

by RESNET on August 24, 2011

GAF has agreed to work with RESNET to promote the improvement of home energy performance in the U.S. GAF will accomplish this goal through urging its roofing contractor members to become trained and certified as RESNET Energy Smart Contractors.

Through this new partnership, GAF roofing contractor members will team up with RESNET certified home energy raters to form Energy Smart Teams to undertake comprehensive energy upgrades of existing homes.

GAF is North America’s largest manufacturer of commercial and residential roofing. It has relations with over 100,000 roofing contractors. The company has been featured on the Discovery Channel’s Green Earth Journal, Women’s Entertainment’s Designing Spaces, CBS’ The Early Show, Fox’s Morning Show, PBS’ Home Time and A&E’s House of Dreams television shows. RESNET Executive Director Steve Baden commented, “our partnership with GAF is a game changer. The organization’s network of over 100,000 roofing contractors is a key influence in the home improvement market. Teaming up with GAF and its affiliated contractors will result in a major push of including energy upgrades as a part of the remodeling of an existing home. This will result in new business opportunities for both home energy raters and roofing contactors.”
