RESNET Board Adopts Standards Development Manual for Non-ANSI Standards

Aug 18, 2014

To establish a transparent consensus process for developing and amending RESNET non-ANSI standards, the RESNET Board of Directors adopted the RESNET Standards Management Board’s developed “Standard Development Policy Procedures Manual for Non – ANSI/RESNET’ Standards”.  The procedures spell out the process that RESNET must follow in developing and amending its non-ANSI standards.

The most significant change is the requirement that all RESNET committees charge with developing and amending the national home energy rating standards must have a balanced representation on the committees to ensure that the standard developed represents all of the interests in a group of standards.  It is now required that the RESNET committees be balanced between:

  • Producers
  • Users
  • General Interests
