RESNET is Accepting Public Comments on Proposed Standard Amendment on HERS® Rating Software Accreditation

The RESNET Board has established a set of policies aimed at enhancing the national consistency of HERS® Index scores.  A key element is to enhance the consistency in which accredited HERS® Rating software tools calculate HERS® Index scores.

Nowhere in RESNET’s standards is the accreditation HERS® software tools addressed. This proposed amendment clearly defines that all HERS® Rating software tools shall be accredited by RESNET.

RESNET Standard Development Committee (SDC) 900 has authorized the release of a proposed amendment version PDS-01 for public review and comment.

Comments must be submitted using the online comment form which is accessed as indicated below.

Note: The public comment period will end Sunday, October 22, 2016.

After the comment period, the RESNET SDC 900 will consider and document the consideration of each of the comments submitted and make appropriate changes. The SDC 900 approved revised amendment then will be submitted to the RESNET Standard Management Board for approval of its publication as an addendum to Chapter 1 of the RESNET Mortgage Industry National Home Energy Rating Standards.
