RESNET Launches Rating Industry Scholarship Fund for Disabled Veteran, Women and Minority Owned Businesses

The Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) with support from the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a scholarship program to encourage U.S. Small Business Administration designated Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses, Women-Owned Small Businesses and Minority Business Enterprises to become Home Energy Rating Companies and RESNET Accredited Providers.

The scholarship program is intended to assist in the establishment of careers in the home energy rating field. The scholarships will cover:

Providing scholarships for required Home Energy Rater certification training

Offering free or discounted RESNET conference registration

Off-setting provider accreditation fees

Providing support for the purchase of required equipment to perform home energy ratings (e.g., blower doors, duct pressure testing equipment).

To eligible for a scholarship the business must provide documentation that is designated by the U.S. Small Business Administration as either a:

Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses,

Women-Owned Small Businesses or

Minority Business Enterprises 8(a) Business

The scholarship program will be on a first come-first-served basis for any of the activities addressed above.

RESNET Executive Director Steve Baden commented, “the purpose of this scholarship is to encourage the wider diversity of the rating industry.  RESNET’s goal is to have an industry as diverse as the American people.  We are grateful for the support from the Environmental Protection Agency in helping to achieve this goal.”
