RESNET Posts New Federal Advocacy Toolkit

Apr 23, 2019

RESNET is launching a public policy advocacy campaign to help the HERS® Industry and its allies engage with their Members of Congress during the 116th Congress.  There are over 100 new Members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives as a result of the recent mid-term elections, many of whom may be unfamiliar with the HERS® Industry, RESNET and our policy priorities. It is important that we reach out to these new Members to educate them on who we are and what we do so that we can develop champions for our legislative agenda.

In 2019 RESNET will be undertaking a Congressional advocacy campaign aimed at education Congressional offices on the HERS® Index and the contribution that the HERS® industry is making to the nation’s energy policy.

To aid the RESNET network in this effort, RESNET has posted a new online Federal Advocacy Tool Kit.

The Tool Kit contains information on:

• How to Find Your Member of Congress
• How to Set Up and Conduct an Effective Meeting with Your Congressional Office
• Follow Up Needed After the Meeting

The Tool Kit also contains resources such as:

• What is the HERS® Index Infographic to Hand Out
• What is RESNET Infographic to Hand Out
• RESNET Policy Priorities Factsheet
• SAVE Act Factsheet

In addition, the site contains a short, humorous video to refresh you how a bill becomes law in Congress.

On Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. (Eastern) RESNET will host a free webinar to inform members of the RESNET network of the advocacy campaign and explain how one can contribute your voice. The webinar will also introduce the new online RESNET Washington Advocacy Tool Kit.

The webinar will be led by Carl Chidlow, RESNET’s Washington representative.

The webinar is free, but pre-registration is required.
