Raters and RFIs: Complete Energy Code Verification Survey By 1/6/21

Dec 10, 2020

In late 2019, RESNET and the International Code Council (ICC) launched a collaboration that would utilize certified RESNET HERS® Raters and Rating Field Inspectors (RFIs) to undertake IECC code compliance verification.

The first phase of this effort is verification of the performance path of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).

When this phase of this program launches, it will allow HERS® Raters and RFIs with the ICC IECC/HERS® Compliance Specialist designation to generate uniform compliance documentation for the 2009 and 2018 versions of the IECC. These uniform compliance documents were developed by RESNET and ICC to meet all the requirements of the performance path and will include the ICC and RESNET logos. Raters will be able to generate both permit application and certificate of occupancy documents using RESNET accredited software and submitting the home to the RESNET Buildings Registry.  RESNET expects to have draft program guidelines by early 2021.

To gain a better understanding of how RESNET’s network of HERS® Raters and RFIs are already participating in code compliance activities, RESNET is conducting a short survey. This survey will help RESNET understand how and where Raters and RFIs are most involved in energy code compliance and allow us to develop the most effective program and outreach. If you are a HERS® Rater or RFI, please click on RESNET HERS® Rater/RFI Energy Code Survey to participate in the survey.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered for a chance to win one of three free passes to attend the 2021 RESNET Building Performance Virtual Conference and one of three 2021 International Energy Conservation Code publication (to be sent to the winners as soon as the  2021 IECC is published).

The deadline for completing the survey is Wednesday January 6, 2021.
