Volunteers needed for the upcoming U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon in Irvine

July 24th, 2015 - Posted by Heather Stafford under Upcoming Events

We are currently accepting volunteers and interns to support the upcoming U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, which will be held Thursdays – Sundays, Oct. 8–18 at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California. Open to the public free of charge, the Solar Decathlon gives visitors the opportunity to tour solar-powered houses, gather ideas to use in their own homes, and learn how energy-saving features can help them save money today.

The Solar Decathlon is an award-winning program that challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.

Volunteers and interns are an important part of this exciting event. To that end, we wondered if you could spread the word via your networks and colleagues who might be in Southern California, maybe via your websites or social media feeds? Volunteers and interns work alongside Solar Decathlon organizers serving as a greeter, docent, visitor liaison, education days mentors and more.
