A special feature at this year’s International Builders Show in Orlando was tours by KB Homes of their “KB Home GreenHouse.”  The home has a HERS Index of 0 and has been certified as USGBC LEED for Homes – Platinum, WaterSense,  ENERGY STAR and Environments for Living Certified Green Home.

The home combines high energy performance with style.  The 2,600 sq ft home’s interior was designed by Martha Stewart, and has the comfort feeling of a larger home.   At the opening Ms. Stewart stated, “I love this size home. I don’t think we need to live in these giant McMansions that have peppered the landscape of much of America and are hence sitting vacant and insufficiently furnished.”   The home will be featured at the 2011 RESNET Building Performance Conference with a tour by USGBC LEED for Homes.  For information at the KB net zero energy home, click on http://www.builderconcepthome2011.com/

Jacob Atalla of KB Home will be on the panel of the session, “RESNET HERS Index and Large Production Builders” at the 2011 RESNET Building Performance Conference.
