Below are some recent pieces of legislation that are beneficial for RESNET EnergySmart Contractors.

Cut Energy Bills at Home Act (25E)

The Cut Energy Bills at Home Act provides a 30 percent tax credit for Americans to reduce their energy consumption and costs by making their homes more energy efficient. The bill specifically names RESNET EnergySmart Home Performance Teams as qualifying service providers. As a RESNET EnergySmart Contractor, you are eligible to join RESNET EnergySmart Home Performance Teams and benefit from this legislation.

Sensible Accounting to Value Energy (SAVE) Act of 2011

The SAVE Act provides a mechanism to (a) take energy costs into account within mortgages, (b) reduce the amount of energy consumed by homes, and (c) create energy efficiency retrofit and construction jobs. The act specifically names RESNET HERS Raters as the professionals qualified to measure a homes energy efficiency. By partnering with HERS Raters in RESNET EnergySmart Home Performance Teams, EnergySmart Contractors can have access to energy efficiency retrofit and construction jobs across the nation.

Home Owner Managing Energy Savings (HOMES) Act of 2012

This bill creates a new performance-based rebate program for homeowners to improve the energy performance of their existing homes. The HOMES Act provides a federal rebate of up to $8,000 for homeowners to improve the energy performance of their homes. The amount of the rebate is driven by the percentage the energy performance is improved. The bill specifically names RESNET EnergySmart Home Performance Teams as qualifying service providers. As a RESNET EnergySmart Contractor, you are eligible to join RESNET EnergySmart Home Performance Teams and benefit from this legislation.
