Certified Rater Directory Legend
RESNET has adopted a number of standards and procedures aimed at enhancing the credibility of rating services:
- RESNET Code of Ethics
- RESNET Standards of Practice
- RESNET Financial Interest Disclosure
- RESNET Complaint Resolution Process
RESNET Rater Seal of Quality
RESNET issues a Rater Seal of Quality to its rater members who subscribe to these highest standards. These raters have committed to RESNET that they will meet the high standards of ethics and quality.
RESNET Tax Credit
In order to verify a home for the federal tax credit for energy efficient homes the certified rater or the rater's company must have professional liability insurance coverage in the amount of at least $500,000. The rater must provide to RESNET a signed declaration to RESNET that the company has such coverage. Raters whose listing in the directory has this icon have submitted to RESNET the required documentation. It is simple to submit the documentation. To learn what is required click on Requirements to Certify the Energy Efficient Homes Credit.
Habitat for Humanity
Through RESNET's partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy's Building America Program and Habitat for Humanity, its home energy rater members are volunteering with their Habitat for Humanity affiliates to improve the energy performance of the homes built through the program. The raters whose listing includes this seal are demonstrating their committment to their community and affordable housing by volunteering to give back to their community. RESNET Green Rater
RESNET has established a new category of rater certification, RESNET Green Rater. The RESNET Green Rater has been trained and certified to inspect and verify the green features of a home in addition to the home's energy performance.
