Amendment of RESNET Rater and Quality Assurance Designee Training and Certification Standards

RESNET PROPOSES AMENDMENT TO UPDATE RESNET RATER AND QUALITY ASSURANCE DESIGNEE TRAINING AND TESTING STANDARD

Based upon the recommendations from the RESNET Training and Education Committee, RESNET Board of Directors adopted a policy for a simulation based practical test for Raters. Clean up language is needed to have the Standards reflect the Board policy.

The amendment of Chapter Two of the Standards required the training and testing of Home Energy Raters on CAZ testing. There is language in the Standard that needs to be made clearer to be consistent with the requirement.

The standard language requiring that training take place by a certified Rater Trainer under a RESNET accredited Rater Trainer also needs to be clarified.

For some reason, Quality Assurance Designees were not included in the requirement to successfully complete the RESNET Combustion Appliance Test and Work Scope Development Test including the simulation exam. Since they will be performing Quality Assurance work on Raters who must follow the procedures covered by these tests, Quality Assurance Designees should also have to successfully complete the tests just as the Trainers are. This proposed amendment is undergoing the RESNET standard amendment public review and comment process. Interested parties are encouraged to comment on the proposed amendment. Public comments on the proposed amendment will be accepted until Monday, March 17, 2014.
