The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Challenge Home label is the symbol of excellence in home building.  Based on a foundation of comprehensive home performance, the program provides a path to constructing net-zero energy ready homes for leading edge builders.  DOE Challenge Home owners benefit from affordable, comfortable, safe, healthy and durable homes designed to last hundreds of years.  Program requirements are now finalized and in force as of April 1, 2012.

During this technical training, partners will learn

  • Key technical specifications in moderate detail; and
  • How to manually program the “Target Home” within the rating software – which establishes the HERS® Index target for qualifying homes – for qualifying homes prior to July 1, 2012.*
  • How to qualify homes today!

*Because the HERS® rating software is currently being updated to verify DOE Challenge Home compliance and will not be ready until this summer – this webinar will explain in detail how Raters can program in the Target Home until the software automates this step.
