Accredited Software Rating Tools

Accredited software rating tools have been verified by RESNET® to properly calculate an Energy Rating Index in accordance with ANSI and RESNET Standards.

The following is a listing of energy rating software programs that have been accredited by RESNET®. The versions/modes listed below for RESNET HERS® Accreditation indicate the range of Building Permit Dates (in parentheses) for which each version/mode can be used to submit registered ratings.

IECC Compliance lists versions/modes of the software that complies with the minimum requirements to adopt the version/modes of the ANSI/RESNET/ICC Standard 301 edition (plus addenda) adopted by the respective edition of the IECC code.

When an Energy Rating Index (ERI) is used to demonstrate IECC compliance using Section R406, the ERI “shall be determined in accordance with ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301”, which requires the use of ‘approved software rating tools’.

Use the links above to confirm the software tool listed in permit application documents are ‘approved’.

Additionally, for an ERI to be determined in accordance with ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301, “approved inspectors”, “approved testers”, and/or “certified raters” are required and must be approved by ‘approved rating providers’. A link to approved providers is here.

Individuals ‘approved’ for performing energy ratings in accordance with ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301 can be found here.

Accredited rating software tools provide the calculations necessary to produce a home energy rating. The requirements to be an accredited rating software program are defined in Chapter Three of the RESNET HERS Standards.
