COVID-19 Emergency Procedures for Proctoring RESNET Tests

Oct 6, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our day to day business and personal lives.

This communication is to inform the RESNET community on the latest emergency measure that RESNET has adopted to assist Rater Training Providers as well as Rater and Rating Field Inspector candidates in meeting the COVID-19 national emergency.

With the temporary emergency powers granted to me by the RESNET Board Executive Committee, I have made the following waivers.

Online Proctoring Services Permitted for all RESNET Quality Assurance Designee, HERS® Rater and Rating Field Inspector Tests

The stay in place requirements that have been adopted in most areas of the nation has made it exceedingly difficult to secure onsite independent proctoring services.

Effective immediately, online proctoring services are permitted for all RESNET Quality Assurance Designee, HERS® Rater and Rating Field Inspector tests following the COVID-19 Emergency Procedures for Proctoring RESNET Tests.  This will be in effect until further notice.

Remote Proctoring of Probationary Ratings, RFI Mentored Ratings, and RFI Graded Field Evaluations

RESNET is urging in cases where possible for RESNET professionals to avoid going into the field.  The requirement of onsite proctoring of new candidate probationary or mentored ratings presents the unnecessary choice of multiple individuals being in the field together or suspending the certification process for new rater and RFI candidates.

For the viability of having HERS® Rater and Rating Field Inspectors to complete the mandatory field requirements for certification, I have adopted the following emergency temporary policy.

Effective immediately, probationary ratings, RFI mentored ratings, and RFI Graded Field Evaluations may be conducted using the remote quality assurance protocol.  This will be in effect until further notice.

RESNET has activated a dedicated COVID19info@resnet.us email address that will go directly to the Quality Assurance Team for QA questions and concerns. This email address is for specific questions to the QA team regarding remote QA, reporting, etc., during this time of disruption in our industry.

To keep the HERS® community up-to-date on developments addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, RESNET has posted a new webpage, RESNET COVID-19 Updates. The webpage contains RESNET COVID-19 Announcements, Resources for the Rating Industry on the COVID-19 Pandemic and General Resources on the COVID-19 Pandemic. The page is frequently updated, therefore RESNET professionals are urged to check it daily.

We are all in this pandemic crisis and by working together we will recover and be more united and stronger than ever.
