The Standard ANSI/RESNET/ANSI 301-2014 currently specifies the grading of the installation of insulation. The standard, however, currently does not define the grading criteria. Instead, it refers to the RESNET Mortgage Industry National Home Energy Rating Standards, a proprietary standard. In order to have the grading criteria within an ANSI consensus standard The RESNET Standard Development Committee 300 has voted to release a proposed amendment that creates an addendum F to the ANSI/RESSNET/ICC Standard 301. The addendum creates Normative Appendix A where minimum rated features of an Energy Rating Index are to be located. The first entry into this appendix will be insulation installation grading requirements. This amendment provides minimum insulation installation requirements and grading criteria for: insulated sheathing, fibrous batt insulation, blown or sprayed fibrous loose fill insulation, open cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation and closed cell spray polyurethane foam insulation, structural insulated panels (SIPS), reflective/radiant insulation products, attic radiant barriers, and interior radiation control coatings(IRCCs). The proposed draft amendment is posted at Insulation Installation Grading Requirements Public comments on the proposed amendment will be accepted until December 19, 2016. To submit your comments click on RESNET Amendment Comment Online Form RESNET will only accept comments submitted on the online form indicated by strike/underline in the addendum. Comments are posted real time and you will be able to review comments that were submitted by clicking on Comments Submitted on Draft Insulation Installation Grading Requirements Amendment The public comment period will be open until December 19, 2016. After the comment period, the RESNET Standard Development Committee 300 will consider and document each of the comments submitted and make appropriate changes. The revised proposed amendment then will be submitted to the RESNET Standard Management Board for final approval.
