RESNET Board Votes to Recognize Certified RESNET Home Energy Raters Certification as Building Analysts as Meeting RESNET CAZ Field Training Requirements

Feb 28, 2014

Current certified RESNET energy raters must pass the RESNET CAZ testing by January 1, 2015.

It was RESNET staff’s policy that all raters must pass the RESNET CAZ simulation and written tests and undergo field training on CAZ testing by a RESNET accredited Rater Training Provider to meet this requirement.

At its annual meeting in Atlanta the RESNET Board of Directors adopted a formal standard interpretation that certified energy raters who hold a current Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst certification will not to have to undergo the RESNET CAZ field training requirement.  All currently certified raters, however, must pass the RESNET written and simulation CAZ tests.

Current certified raters who do not have an up-to-date BPI Building Analyst certification must complete the required RESNET field training as well as pass the two CAZ tests.
