RESNET Standard Allowing Default Values for Duct and Envelope Leakage to Expire on June 10, 2023

As part of its emergency response to the COVID pandemic, RESNET adopted an amendment to its standards (Exception 3) to allow certified RESNET HERS® Raters to enter defined duct and envelope leakage data into the HERS rating in lieu of field testing.

The standard amendment included the provision for the automatic expiration of Exception 3 to occur 30 days after the federal COVID emergency declaration ends. President Biden has announced that the federal COVID emergency will expire on May 11, 2023. This means that this RESNET emergency provision will expire on June 10, 2023.

Until June 10, 2023, HERS Raters can continue to use this emergency protocol. On and after June 11, 2023, this practice will longer be permitted.
