RESNET® Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona

Feb 7, 2025 ConferenceGeneral

In the early morning hours of January 30, a team of RESNET staff, HERS® Raters, and Providers helped to build a home with Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona

Since 2019, RESNET and the Emerging Leadership Council have organized a volunteer activity in concert with the RESNET Conference, as a way to give back to our host city and the industry. This year, RESNET partnered with the Central Arizona affiliate of Habitat for Humanity to help a home in its upcoming 25-home Alta Vista development in Phoenix. One of the lots will be dedicated to the late President Jimmy Carter, who was a long-time collaborator with Habitat for Humanity after leaving office.

Volunteer tasks vary depending on construction needs and include everything from framing to landscaping. The team of nine RESNET volunteers assisted with framing three rooms of the home, scheduled to be completed during the summer.

This will be the second time RESNET has organized volunteers from the rating industry to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona during a RESNET Conference. Prior to the 2020 RESNET Conference in Scottsdale, around 25 volunteers stocked and priced items at the local Habitat ReStore.

Said RESNET spokesperson Valerie Briggs, “We are so proud to have partnered twice now with Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona. Our rating community so enjoys volunteering, and it is a great way to give back to our host city and to promote energy-efficient construction. We hope to continue to do so as an annual tradition for conferences for years to come.”

The day prior, RESNET Conference attendees heard from Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona CEO Jason Barlow on the first-ever Habitat for Humanity 3D build in 2021. The home rated by Arcxis, earned a HERS Index Score of 50.
