RESNET’s Steve Baden to Address Minnesota Green Path Building Conference

Sep 28, 2021

RESNET Executive Director Steve Baden is a featured speaker at the 2021 Green Path Building Conference. The virtual conference will take place on Wednesday, November 11, 2021. Mr. Baden will take a look into the future with national trends and emerging opportunities in green building.

The Green Path Building Conference is sponsored the Housing First Minnesota’s Green Path program.

Minnesota’s Green Path is the leading energy efficiency and green building program for the residential construction industry in Minnesota. Created by Housing First Minnesota in 2011, the program has provided Home Performance Reports for more than 31,000 newly built homes highlighting RESNET’s HERS® Index and air exchange rate. Minnesota’s average HERS® rating is 50, which is the lowest (#1) among states that energy test more than 1,000 homes.

Housing First Minnesota is the leading voice of homebuilders, remodelers, and all who are dedicated to building safe, durable homes at a price Minnesotans can afford. As Minnesota’s trade association for residential builders, remodelers, and building industry suppliers, the organization brings the housing industry together to advocate for housing and homeownership, connect building industry members, and market newly built and remodeled homes.

Steve Baden commented, “It is an honor to present at the Green Path Building Conference.  Minnesota is a leader in the green building movement. In 2020, 46% of all homes built in the state were HERS® Rated. The average HERS® Index Score in the state was 50 (the national average was 58). These homes saved Minnesota families that purchased these homes over $8.9 million annually and reduced annual carbon emissions by over 153,000 tons (equivalent to taking over 30,000 autos off Minnesota’s roads annually). Minnesota’s Green Path program and Housing First Minnesota deserves a loin’s share of credit for this achievement.”
