Stanley Martin Homes: October 2021 RESNET HERS® Index Builder of the Month

Oct 7, 2021

Stanley Martin Homes is the October 2021 RESNET HERS® Index Builder of the Month. In 2021, Stanley Martin was named National Builder of the Year by Builder Magazine.

We asked Stanley Homes Manager of Corporate Field Operations DJ Lawson why Stanley Martin Homes builds with HERS. “A HERS® rated home demonstrates Stanley Martin’s commitment to our home buyers. Having a HERS® provider independently inspect, test, and verify that our homes are energy-efficient, more affordable to own, and more comfortable, supports our mission to design and build homes people love at a price they can afford.” He continues, “HERS® testing has been performed at Stanley Martin Homes since 2011, as the company has expanded from a local to a regional builder it has included HERS® testing in all our divisions. In 2021, 3,700 homes are forecasted to settle which all will have HERS® ratings.”

Lawson adds that consumers should expect energy-efficient homes, given the advances in homebuilding. “The products and building materials available to home builders today are far more advanced than what they were in the past. We feel it is our responsibility to use these products where it makes sense, and the result is a more energy-efficient home. We believe todays’ homebuyers want to purchase a home from a builder who is committed to decisions and build strategies focused on a commitment to preserve the environment.”
