ACCA, the nation’s largest association of indoor environmental systems professionals, and RESNET, the leading independent, non-profit organization committed to helping homeowners reduce the cost of their utility bills by making their homes more energy efficient; are teaming up to bring more focus to the benefits of home performance and to move the industry to the next level. To solidify this partnership ACCA and RESNET signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), on July 18, 2013, in which they agreed to work together to promote home performance contracting to customers and government entities and Energy Smart Home Performance Teams. “ACCA and RESNET have had a long history of working together to draw attention to the benefits of home performance services. We believe that by continuing this partnership with RESNET we can help contractors provide quality services, with measurable results, that improve homeowners daily lives,” said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. Steve Baden, RESNET executive director added, “When organizations like RESNET and ACCA work together the entire industry gets stronger. We are pleased that we can expand our partnership, so that not only homeowners, but also local, state, and federal governments and utilities, realize that working with professional home performance contractors creates a more comfortable and energy efficient living environment.” Some components of the partnership include: working together on committee activities; coordinating messaging efforts at conferences in the future; and working towards code changes to include the HERS® Index.
