The August 2020 RESNET Builder of the Month is Ball Homes serving central Kentucky. Incorporated by Don and Mira Ball more than sixty years ago, this family-owned and operated business is now operated by Mira and the second generation of Ball management. We asked Marketing staffer Fran Stedman why Ball Homes chooses to have their homes HERS® Rated. She replied, “The program and the ratings help us to communicate to homebuyers the value of all the efficiency measures we take in constructing new homes, and to help them understand the advantages of today’s new construction homes in energy performance compared to existing homes that are relatively new, but 5, 10, or 20 years older in terms of design and performance.” As an Energy Smart Builder, Fran notes that all of the 652 houses last year closed last year in Lexington, Louisville and Knoxville combined, were HERS® rated.
