Billy Giblin Selected as Judge in First-Ever HFH House Plan Design Contest

Nov 19, 2020

RESNET is pleased to announce that Quality Assurance Field Specialist Billy Giblin has been selected as a judge for the U.S. Habitat for Humanity House Plan Design Contest. The contest is the first-of-its-kind contest to elect the best Habitat house plan in the U.S.

Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country build some of the most innovative and sustainable housing available. Over the past decade, Habitat projects have been acclaimed for their efforts in energy efficiency, hazard resilience, healthy indoor environments, and accessibility. This contest is a new way to share their work.

Habitat affiliates will submit their best house plans and specifications, along with supporting information about their construction policies and procedures. Submissions will be scored on replicability, hazard resilience, accessibility, the healthfulness of the indoor environment, and energy efficiency.

Participating judges will bring their talents to bear in determining which plans best meet Habitat’s high standards for housing that is not just affordable to purchase, but also affordable for the long term, with lower operation costs and fewer repair, replacement and alteration costs throughout the life of the home. The judging period began November 2, 2020 and concluded December 2, 2020. Winners will be announced in December 2020.
