Thanks for the Memories I will be stepping down as the RESNET Executive Director on December 31, 2025. I encourage the RESNET community to get to know Shelby Gatlin, who will be taking over the helm as the RESNET Executive Director on January 1, 2026. I firmly believe that you will be as impressed with Shelby as the RESNET Board was in selecting her in a very competitive selection process. It has been my honor to collaborate with all of you over the past three decades that I have led the organization. It has been a great privilege working together in growing RESNET and the HERS® industry into what it is now. This could not have been achieved without your hard work and support. Working together over the past decades, we have made a number of accomplishments, including over 4.8 million homes receiving HERS Index Ratings, HERS rating being an energy code compliance option in Massachusetts, Nevada, and Texas, RESNET’s ANSI standards referred to in the International Energy Conservation Code, and a dynamic network of passionate and technically adroit HERS rating professionals. Of even greater importance are the benefits we have been able to achieve for the homeowners of the HERS-rated homes and the planet. It is calculated that the families living in homes that were HERS-rated in 2024 are not only more comfortable but are collectively annually saving $398 million in energy bills. Together, we have also helped heal the planet. It is further calculated that 2024 HERS-rated homes reduce over 1.5 million tons of carbon annually. This equates to taking over 326,000 cars off the road for a year. I would also like to acknowledge the tireless and professional support that the RESNET staff has dedicated to this effort. I am proud to be leaving behind a highly professional and dedicated team that will support Shelby and the RESNET network in taking RESNET to the next level. Again, thanks for the privilege of working with you in building the organization, and thanks for the fond memories that we have shared.
