RESNET Board Interpretation of the Date of the Policy Requiring That all Accredited HERS® Rating Software Programs Must be Based on Hourly Calculations On December 14, 2017, the RESNET Board of Directors formally adopted the following policy requiring that all accredited HERS® Rating software programs must be based on hourly calculations: “All accredited HERS® software programs shall demonstrate that their simulation engines are hourly based as part of the 2020 accreditation process.” To provide RESNET accredited Rating Providers and certified RESNET HERS® Raters clear direction on the effective date of the policy the RESNET Board of Directors has adopted a formal interpretation on the implementation of the policy. The following is the formal interpretation of the implementation of this policy: Accredited Rating Providers shall ensure that all homes with permit dates on or after January 1, 2020 are registered in software versions marked as hourly on the RESNET website.
