Now, more than ever, there is a business opportunity for certified RESNET® HERS® Raters to fill the role of verifying energy code compliance. The International Code Council (ICC) Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner Certification demonstrates that a certified RESNET HERS® Rater has the necessary knowledge of energy code provisions. Many code officials are retiring (as many as 80% in less than 15 years*) and with few young people are moving into the profession–counties, cities, and towns charged with enforcing building codes have little choice but to turn to third-party contractors to verify compliance. HERS® Raters can now register to take the ICC Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner Certification exam during the pre-conference session prior to the 2019 RESNET Building Performance Conference in New Orleans. In 2018, 21 HERS® Raters and industry professionals became ICC Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner certified at the RESNET Conference. Details: February 24, 2019 (preparatory training and exam) Separate registration is required for the exam Free preparatory training from ICC on February 24 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the 2019 RESNET Conference location The exam will take place on the same day from 1:00 – 5:00 pm For more information on the exam, visit the exam guide Note the exam is online and you must bring your own device.
