RESNET Appraisal Portal Featured in Valuation Magazine

Apr 21, 2020 Appraisers

The Quarter 1, 2020 issue of Valuation magazine featured the RESNET Appraisal Portal. The coverage included a full-page display (above) and the following story, “Appraisal Institute Partnership with RESNET Gives Appraisers Access to HERS® Home Ratings.”

The Appraisal Institute and Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) on March 20 announced an agreement where AI professionals now have free access to RESNET’s national registry of Energy Rating System-rated properties.

RESNET’s Appraisal Portal lets appraisers conduct comparable sales searches of more than 2.6 million energy-efficient homes by city, state, ZIP code or address filtered by HERS® rating, builder and year of construction.

The mortgage lending procedures for home valuations are changing and now more than ever, appraisers and HERS® Raters must engage to ensure the value of the procedure of high-performance homes when hybrid appraisals and AVMs are substituted for traditional appraisals. It is vital to understand these products and the importance of documenting the facts on houses that are high performing and to identify ways to make high performance more transparent.

Developed by RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network) and introduced in 2006, the HERS® Index is the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.
