RESNET and ACCA worked cooperatively within the RESNET Standards Development Committee 300 to develop the RESNET/ACCA/ANSI Standard 310 “Standard for Grading the Installation of HVAC Systems”. The standard sets a realistic level of the performance of an HVAC system in the reference home and awards the increased performance of a system based upon the inspection and testing of the system by a certified RESNET HERS® Rater. This standard presents a major opportunity for the HERS® Industry, builders, HVAC contractors, and manufacturers. Training is required for certified RESNET HERS® Raters or Rating Field Inspectors (RFIs) who choose to work on ratings that show credit for HVAC grading and for Quality Assurance Designees (QADs) who perform QA reviews on any ratings that show credit for HVAC grading. The training consists of a four-part series of online self-guided modules (approximately 4.5 hours). In addition, participating Raters and RFIs must pass a field practical assessment overseen by a qualified QAD. As RESNET sponsors this week’s ACCA Fall Business Technology and Operations Managers and Service Managers Meetings, we are proud to recognize the over 125 Raters and RFIs who have completed the necessary training and assessments to show credit for HVAC grading and the 60 QAD Assessors who have earned the designation.
