RESNET Embarks on Implementing New Policies on Enhancing the National Consistency of HERS® Index Scores

Feb 11, 2015

RESNET has a keen understanding that as a market-based initiative, the credibility of the HERS® Rating industry depends on a robust quality assurance process.

After a year-long process that involved multiple task forces and working groups and public vetting, the RESNET Board of Directors adopted a set of policies aimed at enhancing the national consistency of HERS® Index Scores.  To view the policies adopted by the RESNET Board go to HERS® Ratings Quality Improvements Policies Adopted by the RESNET Board. The process that led to the development of the policies are posted at RESNET Process for Enhancing the National Consistency of HERS® Index Scores

RESNET has begun the process of developing the procedures and standard amendments that are required to implement the RESNET Board’s policies.  The effort will be overseen by the RESNET Standard Development Committee 900 – Quality Assurance.

RESNET’s commitment to this effort is demonstrated by putting its money where its mouth is.  RESNET has contracted with Daran Wastchak to lead in the development of its enhanced quality assurance procedures and standards.

Daran is well qualified for this effort.  He has two decades of experience in the HERS® Rating industry.  Daran has served on the RESNET Quality Assurance Committee from its inception which included serving as its chairman for a number of years.  Mr. Wastchak also served as the chairman of the RESNET Quality Improvement Quality Assurance Working Group that developed the policy options for enhanced quality assurance.

It is RESNET’s goal to have the new enhanced quality assurance standard amendments out for public review by June 2015.
