RESNET/ICC 301-2019 Standard Modified to Incorporate Calculations to Credit ANSI RESNET/ACCA Standard 310’s HVAC Quality Installation Grading

On June 23, 2020 the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved the RESNET/Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) Standard ANSI/RESNET/ACCA 310-2020 “Standard for Grading the Installation of HVAC Systems”. This new ANSI standard sets the technical specifications for the inspection, testing, and grading of a home’s HVAC system.

The calculations necessary for crediting the contributions of the HVAC quality installation grading are contained in Standard ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301-2019 Addendum B-2020 which was approved July 27, 2020.

The most significant changes in Addendum B-2020 include:

  • Added criteria for adopting and implementing Standard ANSI/RESNET/ACCA 310-2020 credits in Energy Ratings
  • Clarification of what constitutes a Thermally Isolated Sunroom
  • Add criteria for calculating impacts of dehumidification equipment when installed and the MRFs for the equipment

With the adoption of ANSI/RESNET/ICC Standard 301-2019 Addendum B-2020 RESNET accredited software developers can incorporate the calculations into their software programs.
