RESNET Posts Interactive HERS Index on Its Consumer Page

Jan 11, 2012

In an effort to provide consumers a fun way to learn about how the HERS Index works and what the scores mean, RESNET has posted an interactive HERS Index tool as the home page of its consumer site

As you move the score of the HERS Index the tool will graphically indicate the resulting cost savings, reduction of carbon emissions and increased comfort of the home. The estimated average cost savings from the changing the HERS Index score was developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

The site states that the savings numbers are for educational purposes only and that for specific information on a particular home the consumer should have a home energy rating conducted by a certified RESNET Home Energy Rater.

This education tool will enforce the movement of builders that commit to having their homes energy rated and marketing their homes HERS Index.  For more information on the momentum of builders and the HERS Index click on RESNET Energy Smart Builders
