RESNET Proposes Amendment to RESNET National Home Energy Rating Standards to Add a Definition for Confirmed Threshold Rating – Draft Addendum 28, Appendix B

On March 27, 2017, the RESNET Board of Directors created a new category of confirmed HERS® Ratings, “Confirmed Threshold Rating.”  The RESNET Board voted that tested envelope leakage and duct leakage values for Sampled Ratings and other confirmed ratings that use Threshold Specifications to determine the HERS® Index be reported to the RESNET National Building Registry through the XML files submitted for registration.  The Board action was the result of the recommendations of the RESNET Board Threshold Rating Working Group. The working group was chaired by Philip Fairey of the Florida Solar Energy Center. Members were Dave Bell of Top Build, Steve Byers of EnergyLogic, and Daran Wastchak of DR Wastchak.

Proposed Addendum 28 amends the RESNET Mortgage Industry National Home Energy Rating Standards to add a definition for Confirmed Threshold Rating in Appendix B Glossary of Terms.

RESNET is submitting the proposed substantive language to the RESNET standard amendment public review and comment process.

The proposed amended language is posted at Draft PDS-01 of proposed Addendum 28 Confirmed Threshold Rating Definition

Public comments will be accepted through October 5, 2017.
