The RESNET Standards Management Board (SMB) approved standard BSR/RESNET 301-2013 at its February 27, 2013 meeting after review of the Standard Development Committee (SDC) 300 procedures and responses to public comments. The approval culminates the SDC’s work throughout 2012 to translate RESNET’s Mortgage Industry National Home Energy Rating Systems Standards HERS® rating procedures into an American National Standard (ANS) standard. After SMB resolution of any appeals on the standard, it will be submitted to ANSI (American National Standards Institute) as a candidate for formal recognition and designation as an ANS. RESNET was approved as an ANSI-Accredited Standards Developer in January 2012. The SMB immediately appointed SDC 300 who initiated work in drafting standard BSR/RESNET 301-2013. The SDC released its preliminary draft standard for public comment in June 2012. After the public comment period the committee reviewed the comments submitted and incorporated most of the suggested changes. The SDC then submitted its final draft standard to the RESNET’s SMB in February 2013. The SMB approved the final draft standard subsequent to its review of the SDC’s standard development record and the public comments rejected by the SDC. Pending resolution of any appeals regarding rejected comments filed with RESNET the standard will be published as a RESNET standard then submitted to the American National Standards Institute Board of Standards Review (ANSI BSR) for review. Upon approval by ANSI the standard will be designated an American National Standard. To view the standard go to BSR/RESNET 301-2013
