RESNET® has begun the process of developing an ANSI candidate standard for calculating C02e emissions based on metered data for ratings. It is seeking volunteers willing to be considered to serve on the Standard Development Committee (SDC). The purpose of this standard is to provide a consistent methodology for using long-run marginal emission rates by Cambium generation and emission assessment (GEA) region in the calculation of CO2e emissions. The provisions of this standard provide requirements on how to estimate CO2e emissions from measured data on the electricity and fuel consumption of a facility or organization. It is intended for the purposes of complying with standards on disclosure of emissions and of reducing emissions year after year using an Energy Management System. The development of standardized methods for assessing emissions embodied in building construction materials needs a standardized method for estimating emissions based on long-run marginal emission rates. Current methods are inadequate and overestimate emissions for electrical manufacturing processes significantly. Standards for calculating embodied carbon in the construction materials for buildings will need improved methods for estimating emissions to establish fair and equitable assessments. The first step in this standard development process is to seek volunteers to serve on the SDC 1600. The SDC 1600 will be the consensus body that will oversee the drafting of the standard and the RESNET® ANSI standard development public review and comment process following the “RESNET® ANSI Standards Development Policy and Procedures”. The policy and procedures are posted at https://www.resnet.us/wp-content/uploads/archive/resblog/2016/01/RESNET_SDO_Procedures.pdf The RESNET® Executive Director will review applications submitted and recommend their appointment to the SDC by the RESNET® Standards Management Board. If you are interested in serving on the SDC 1600 Committee please submit the following: • Name, organization, and email – phone contact information • A resume or short description of your educational and professional experience. • Paragraph why you want to serve on the SDC 1600 • Paragraph why you are qualified to serve on the SDC 1600 Please send the information to email@example.com by January 15, 2024.
