ZERH Orientation Training Available in the RESNET® Training Portal

Apr 5, 2024 GeneralProvidersRaters

Single-family homes permitted on or after January 1, 2024, and seeking DOE’s Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) program certification are required to meet ZERH version 2, revision 1 requirements. DOE has created an orientation training and short quiz for ZERH version 2. All RESNET HERS Raters and Rating Field Inspectors certifying homes under ZERH version 2 must complete this training.

The training can be accessed for free on the RESNET Training Portal. The training is titled: “DOE Zero Energy Ready Home Certification”. After successfully passing the quiz at the end, HERS Raters and RFIs should enter their RTIN or RFIIN so the training can be logged in the RESNET Registry. (Note: this training video is also available on the DOE website, but it must be taken through the RESNET Training Portal so it can be tracked in the RESNET Registry and avoid rejection of ZERH Ratings for Raters that haven’t completed the training). Raters and RFIs will receive one professional development unit for completing the training.

DOE is working on additional single-family and multifamily training videos for ZERH v2. When completed, those will also be available on the RESNET Training Portal and will be required for Raters and RFIs.
