Commitment to Excellence- Theme of the 2016 RESNET Building Performance Conference

Jun 9, 2015

The RESNET HERS® Index is on the cusp of being a mainstream of the housing market.  Already over a third of all new homes sold are HERS® rated and issued a HERS® Index Score. An Energy Rating Index Score option is in the 2015 IECC. Builders are using the HERS® Index Scores to market their homes and Multiple Listing Services (MLS) across the nation are listing the HERS® Index Scores of homes for sale.  This momentum is building with the partnerships that RESNET is creating with the International Code Council on educating code officials and the Appraisal Institute on educating appraisers on the value of the HERS® Index.  In addition RESNET has embarked on a social media campaign to educate consumers on the HERS® Index.

Another exciting opportunity is the development of the RESNET Water Efficiency Rating (WER) Index.

In order to achieve the goal of the HERS® Index being in the mainstream of the housing market, the HERS® industry needs a commitment to continuous improvement in making HERS® Ratings more consistent and accurate.  This commitment to excellence is the theme of the 2016 RESNET Building Performance Conference
