RESNET Accredited as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard Developing Organization

Jan 5, 2012

On January 3, 2012 ANSI accredited RESNET as a Standards Development Organization (SDO). This means that RESNET can develop ANSI standards.

ANSI has served in its capacity as administrator and coordinator of the United States private sector voluntary standardization system for more than 90 years.  ANSI facilitates the development of American National Standards (ANS) by accrediting the procedures of standards developing organizations (SDOs). These groups work cooperatively to develop voluntary national consensus standards. Accreditation by ANSI signifies that the procedures used by the standards body in connection with the development of American National Standards meet the Institute’s essential requirements for openness, balance, consensus and due process.

The first amendment that RESNET will submit is for an ANSI standard that incorporates RESNET’s technical standard and the rating of the energy performance of a home.
