RESNET Proposes Standard Amendment on Adopting Chapter 10 “RESNET EnergySmart Contractor Standard”

In November 2010 the RESNET Board of Directors adopted the guidelines for the RESNET Energy Smart Contractors. It was always the intent of the board that the guidelines would be made into a Chapter 10 of the RESNET Standards.

Since 2010 the RESNET Energy Smart Contractor Task Force has been developing the draft standard. The chairman of the task force was Orlo Stitt of Stitt Energy Systems and the members of the task force were:

  • Wes Davis, Air Conditioning Contractors of America
  • Mark Jansen, Energy Efficient Homes Midwest
  • Dallas Jones, Home Energy Team
  • Michael Kwart, Insulation Contractors Association of America
  • Lee O’Neal, MABTEC
  • Daran Wastchak, D.R. Wastchak

The proposed standard defines the RESNET Energy Smart Home Performance Teams which are referred to in two bills in Congress.

The amendment is undergoing an ANSI compliant public review and comment process. Interested parties are encouraged to comment on the proposed amendment. Public comments on the proposed amendment will be accepted until Friday, June 1, 2012.

Only comments made through the online system will be accepted.

After the comment period, the RESNET Energy Smart Contractor Task Force will consider and document each of the comments submitted and make appropriate changes. The revised proposed amendments then will be submitted to the RESNET Standards Committee who will review the public comment process then recommend to the RESNET Board for adoption.
