RESNET is pleased to have been awarded Associate of the Year by the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) during its prestigious 2023 Excellence in Leadership Dinner on Nov. 15 at The San Luis Resort in Galveston, Texas. RESNET partnered with TAB in 2023 to educate Texas builders and others in the state homebuilding industry about Texas House Bill 3215, allowing the use of the HERS® Index for energy code compliance statewide. The recognition read, “Throughout 2023, RESNET played a crucial role in supporting our members following the enactment of Texas House Bill 3215 — a pivotal update to the state’s universal energy code compliance pathway. Committed to being a conduit for the latest energy code information, RESNET conducted an extensive educational initiative. They employed a hybrid approach, offering remote Zoom at Noon education webinars throughout the year. RESNET sponsored and facilitated training classes across all 26 local HBAs. Notably, RESNET took a prominent role as the Education Center sponsor, exhibitor, and presenter of an education session at the 2023 Sunbelt Builders Show™” TAB’s “Of the Year” awards are given annually to recognize exemplary service and leadership contributions to the homebuilding industry by its members. “We are so honored to receive the 2023 TAB Associate of the Year Award. Our work with TAB has been a crucial part of our efforts to educate Texas builders on the HERS Index as a code compliance pathway. This legislation represents a significant opportunity for builders and their HERS Rating partners to comply with the Texas energy code using the HERS® Index, and serves as a potential model for other states, nationwide,” says RESNET Communications Director Valerie Briggs.
