Those changes were covered in a webinar earlier this year. Depending on the “Mandatory Compliance Date”, HERS Ratings are also required to comply with approved RESNET® HERS Addenda. For example, Addendum 85 will be required for ratings with permit dates on or after January 1, 2026, and establishes how to perform a rating for a model home where the garage is temporarily being used as a sales office. A group of new RESNET® HERS Addenda will be available for voluntary use by the middle of 2026. These won’t be mandatory for HERS Ratings until building permit dates in 2027. This webinar will provide a high-level overview of each Addenda, its development status, and its possible impact on your rating practices and ERI scores: Addendum 77 – changes to how Heat Pump Water Heaters are verified and simulated (under development) Addendum 82 – changes to calculations of AC and HPs performance (under development) Addendum 83 – changes to allow a Grade I protocol for foam-filled CMU wall assemblies (approved; see last public draft here) Addendum 90 – changes to calculations affecting service hot water, including for multi-family dwelling units (approved; see last public draft here) Addendum 94 – changes to calculations affecting GSHPs (approved; see last public draft here) Addendum 98i – changes to allow ‘default’ wall orientation (nearing approval)
