RESNET Standards Management Votes to Withdraw Consideration of Proposed Amendment to ANSI/RESNET/ICC Standard 301 to Replace Equation for Total Air Exchange Rate

Feb 23, 2017

The RESNET Standards Development Committee 300 recommended and the Standards Management Board approved discontinuing the Standard 301 amendment project BSR/RESNET/ICC 301-2014 Addendum E-201x Mechanical Ventilation after review of the public comments submitted on draft PDS-01.

Review of public comments indicated a misunderstanding that the proposed criteria for input to computer simulations for developing Energy Ratings was a requirement for ventilation air amounts when mechanical ventilation is provided for rated homes. Standard ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301-2014 does not establish minimum ventilation requirements for homes.

Further analysis showed that the impact of the version of ASHRAE Standard 62.2 referenced by Standard 301 for assumed air quantities made only a small impact on Energy Ratings. Consideration of all comments and analysis prompted SDC 300 to conclude the project should be discontinued.
